Witness the Sharavati River’s spectacular drop of 253 metres in four distinct cascades – locally known as Raja (king), Rani (queen), Rover, and Rocket – to create one of the highest plunge waterfalls in Asia. The Jog Falls, as they are known, are one of Asia’s highest waterfalls and a major tourist attraction in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Although a beautiful sight at any time of the year, the falls look the best during the monsoons (July to December) with arching rainbows colouring the mist. Located on the outskirts of Mysore, the Biligirirangana range of hills are picturesquely located between the Cauvery and Kapila rivers. At a spectacular height of 5,091 feet above sea level, this hill stretches from the north to the south for about 16 kilometres. Within the hills lies the Biligirirangaswamy Sanctuary which is spread over an area of 540 square kilometres. This sanctuary is home to the gaur (Indian bison) chital, sambar, elephants, tigers, panthers and bears.
